Denise graduated with a B.Sc. (Dietetics) from the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in Cape Town in 1995. Presently, at her alma mata, she is a M.Sc. (Nutrition) candidate specialising in the human microbiome which spans many specialities. She is delving deeper into the fascinating healing properties of food.
Her therapeutic approach is patient-centred. She majored in psychology to further equip her with her holistic approach to patient care. She has certificates from the Diabetes Society of SA (DESSA) and the Medical Research Council (MRC) of SA. Her areas of experience and interest are community health and wellness, nutrition support and education, and clinical nutrition, specifically critical care nutrition.
Denise has worked in SA, Eastern Europe, and Europe as a volunteer for humanitarian organizations. She provides therapeutic nutrition to international clients. Her first international volunteer work was lecturing nutrition and English to Ukrainian students at a church planting institution in Ukraine, Kiev in the ’90s. She volunteered as a cook on children’s camps since university.
Denise has two adult children who are following their dreams beyond the borders of SA as volunteers, entrepreneurs, and employees. Denise loves being lost in nature with her beloved partner. Her favourite pastimes are researching every and everything that interests her and that will positively impact the health and wellbeing of the people that surround her. She enjoys reading, hiking, trail running, forests, rivers, swimming, long drives, and motorbike rides. She fills her tank through family & friends, church, meditation, alone time, quality socializing, hiking and trail running.
